E.C. "Nick" Carter
Founder and Past CEO
On Friday April 18th, 2003 Lassen Tractor Co.'s
founder and past President passed away. He was 90 years old.
E.C., or "Nick" came to work at what we believe
was "Farmers Tractor" in in March of 1946. His
position was General Manager.
His employers and the owners of "Farmers
Tractor" were Hobbie Hobson of Red Bluff (also the Ford Automotive Dealer
in Red Bluff) and E.V. "Jack" Wing, a sheep rancher.
In 1948 Mr. Carter bought out Mr. Hobbie Hobson.
It was at this time the company name was changed to "Lassen Tractor Co."
In 1950 "Nick" bought out Mr. Wing and became
the sole proprietor for four (4) years. The company was incorporated in
1954 with the addition of two (2) more shareholders; Mr. Eugene Judd (a dairy
farmer from Willows, CA) and Mr. Walter Stile, Sr. (a prominent rancher from
).
A celebration of "life" service will be held
Friday May 2nd, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brusie Funeral Home on Broadway in
downtown Chico.
